The bird population is still down from what I experienced last year but there are birds up there to hunt only problem is their are allot of turkey hunters! The last 5 years or so the amount of hunters up there has probably doubled or tripled- allot more folks hunt turkeys now! Muddy Creek you can just about forget about it the 1st couple of weeks and the National forrest aint much better- Caney Creek gets allot of pressure to but if you got the mustard at least up there you can get back away from the crowds!

Yeah, there's a good spot about 15 minutes west of Mena. The AGFC hasnt managed to mess it up since they dont have jurisdiction there.
Seriously... I've been hearing that the hunting was much better on the OK side of mountains last year.

Thanks all, I may try to go to OK. I have a lake house on Sardis but have not wanted to buy a second out of state license. I livie in Texas now but still only hunt in Arkansas back home. Everythng, and everyone, down here will either stick ya, stab ya or bite ya.

Rat- there are still allot of birds around Mena- you can get into some good hunting especially if you are willing to walk alil further! I actually think we had a good hatch last spring and things look encouraging! Go get you one of them Hill Hollering Hunkerheads!
