Take a sawand cut off right behind the skull. Take a knofe and skin the deers whole head cutting out tounge detatching bottom jaw and removing eyes. Be sure to cut out extra meat on the skull that u can see. Get a fish fryer or a turkey boiler and boil the head for 5-6 hours. Then After it has been boiled take a pressure washer and blow off the dead meat and crap. Be sure to get all cavities. U have to be very careful if u wanna keep the nose bone. Mine always broke off. This is really easy and cheap an looks great. I have done almost 10 myself and im a 20 year old kid! I'll post pics

Interesting post... I like to know myself. Beats $75 to have mine or boys done.

Don't use bleach on the skull because it will eventually eat the bone away making it brittle. Go to a hair place like Sally's and buy a bottle of #40 peroxide. Take you a little kids paint brush and paint the skull and let it sit for half hour. Rinse the skull off and see if it's white enough if not just repeat until you get it it where you like it, rinse it and be done.

If it's real trophy to you, find somebody with beatles. I've have DIY, boiled, and beatled. The beatled one looks so much nicer, you can save and see every little detail.

I had a guy do this for me. He did a pretty good job. He has my son's 3pt. now. I like to learn so I can save that $75.

I did this one last year, the first I had done.

I used Arm and hammer laundry soda in the water.

You need something in the water to degrease. I have read if you dont it will yellow over time.

They did not have any of the 40 when I went to buy it, I bought the 20 and it worked just fine only took a few min of soaking.

Don't get the peroxide on the horns they will be white in a short time.
If you do use some wood stain to blend the color back.
After washing and drying spray it with some clear to seal it and keep it looking nice. Dont forget to put a drop od super glue on each of the teeth,

It was was one of the nastiest thing I have done.:applaud: Would I do it again? Probably. It takes a while to get that smell out of everything . Have fun you will love it when finished:up:

If I can put the hammer down on one this year I'll definitely be doing this. I've always wanted to do a euro just never have.

my taxi buddie told me to use denture cleaner after boiling and spraying it off. just be careful, it will bleach the horns.
  17. I just clean the skull and then boil them for as long as it takes. Did this one saturday. It was my best bow kill yet. I also made a stand so i could set it where ever i want.

Dont get beetles, they will get into everything. If you have a mounts int he house they will eat it. If you have a dog in the house they will get where the dog stays most, the same if your spouse has cats....

I saw some instructions in the taxidermy sections and tried themthey are good.
