There is a group of 4 of us going to NM on a simi-guide Merriams hunt this spring. Our 'guide' is going to set up our camp, show us around, give us an idea of where to hunt, etc. How much are we suppose to tip the guide?

I been on one guided hunt in my day. I would guess at least $100 apiece. Personally I would give like $300 apiece.

Never been on a full-out guided hunting trip.
When I did that drop camp elk hunt in CO, I think I tipped the guys that packed us in and out $100 each. Cost of the hunt was $1400/person. Wish I could have tipped them more.

10% of the cost of the hunt is a good number

Ok....10%-20% is what I was thinking. It is going to cost $375/person for the guide. Like I said, he is mainly just going to be setting up our camp and pointing us in the right direction. I can see where we would need to tip more if he cooked us supper and such but I was thinking about $50 apeice. Thanks for the input.

Normally I tip a hundred bucks. This sounds like such a bargain,I'd wait and see how it goes and go from there. I hope it works out great for you.

It always depends on how good of a job he does. I normally tip $100 though.

Never used a guide, but any time it comes to tipping I tip the amount that I would expect to get if I was in their shoes then add about 5%.
