I'm thinking about buying some corn in bulk. How many lbs. will a 55 gal. drum hold?
350 pounds i think
oh yea, did you go to Drumco and get some drums??
No, my son said he could get them where he works free. So of course i took him up on the offer.
Dad bought a pick up truck load back in september (93 dodge long wheel base level full ) It filled up 7 55 gallon drums and several 5 gallon buckets (ran out of drums ) all for $100
I tried to tell him I get it for free at the mill/grainery but he just wouldn't listen:smack:
350 #'s a barrel,(more or less)
Thats right. 1 gal = 231 cu. in., 55 X 231 = 12705 cu. in. 12705/1728 = 7.35 cu. ft. Corn weighs about 48 lbs per cu. ft. So a 55 gal drum holds about 350 lbs or so.
1 gallon of corn is about 6.4 lbs.
350 lbs is about right
Wow, you really can use that math down the road. I never thought there would be a use for it.
So, how much will a 5' long 4'' pipe hold?
About 20.89 lbs.
(4" id pipe)
Pretty good CP. I use half a bag, but fill up a Y and spill a pound.
HFH...I ciphered that on my fingers and toes and added one...for good measure...:thumb:
