I've been hearing of some people catching a few crappie, and I'm going to give it a try this weekend, but I was wondering if some of you seasoned vets can tell me about how deep I should start fishing them. I know it varies from place to place, but I was curious how deep y'all are finding them on average. Thanks!

The shallow lake surface water warms up a few degrees pretty quick with a few day of sunshine. crappie can be caught at 2'-3'. The deep lakes i would start off with points and coves either out off the point or mouth of coves 5' or so off the bottom and work your way up. Remember, Crappie bite up. a lot of times you can actually be fishing 1'-2' above where they are staged and they will come up to bite. Of course it would be great to have some electronics for depth & locator.

Thank you! I do have a depth finder, so I'll be trying to figure it out. I just hope I can actually find some!
