Off and running. Had one more coon that my cousin pulled and didn’t get a picture.

Had 1 bobcat and 1 coyote today. It was dark when i walked up to the set. Didnt see the cat. Until it jumped at me. Caught him on a flat t bone set. And the coyote on a dirt hole.

I set a coni bucket and some dp’s on a couple bait spots. One more round, then I’ll pull all my traps until after turkey season. I don’t want to be in the woods anymore than I have to right now.

Got two skunks in one spot. Luckily they were in the dp’s, not the bucket.

Didn’t think about a pic until after I’d dumped them.

Do you think you have more success with the coni-bucket turned sideways?

That’s a good question, I’ve never tried them any other way.

When I first heard about this technique that’s the way it was presented, so I copied that.

Opposite here, as I first saw and have only used the other way. But I’ve only used 160, which leaves a little more space on each side, than I’d like. So, by turning the bucket narrow side up and down, I put a limb in front to close up gap, on the bottom,at least.

Forgot to add, that this way seems to make it easier to make the trap sturdy, by being able to zip tie to the sides. Probably not an issue with a larger size trap

And one more for good measure. That’s the 3rd coon I’ve caught in that trap in 5 days.

Are you trapping the same area all through the winter or changing areas? I can put out two dozen dp traps and probably will not catch a coon after the second night
I’ve been relocating about once a week. This is the first week that I’ve had catches 4 or 5 days on into the week.

I just switched back to blueberry mini muffins this week and put all of my traps along the edge of the Ouachita River. I don’t know which of those 2 changes flipped the switch.

Got a boar and a sow in the same spot last night. Both in dp’s.

Reset everything, probably leave them out a couple more nights before I pull them for turkey season.

I’ll have to try the mini muffins, and let you know if that’s my vote, cause I won’t be along the Ouachita River.

Well I added another possum this evening right on the river bank, so there’s that.

Had a big sow in a coni bucket last night. I’m glad to get her, that’s a lot of future egg eaters never to be born.

Look at those trap marks! That’s a perfect catch right there

I said I was going to pull all my traps until after turkey season, but I decided to leave the two buckets that have cameras on them. I don’t have to walk in to check those.

Just put out coyote sets with gland lure. Coons will fill them up. I hate making a good coyote set. Next morning having a coon in it. Also there showing up in my beaver sets. The Duke 850's and Brigder #5's are litte over kill on coons.
