I had a great season this year. Not because I killed a monster buck or anything like that. I did kil 2 nice bucks but the main reason for the great season was the quality time I got to spend with my 13 yr old daughter. She loves deer hunting. We have spent many hours on the stand and I have cherished every minute of it. She killed a nice 8 pt yesterday and I was so proud. I just wanted to write this post to remind everyone to take a child hunting whenever you can. I promise you that you will enjoy it. The kids are the future of our sport.

You said a lot right there. It's all about the time spent in the outdoors and when you can spend it with people you love it makes it even better. It's not really about the monster bucks because they are not around every corner.....it's not about whether someone hunts over corn, food plots or whatever......or whether someone runs dogs or not......it's about being out there enjoying Gods creation and spending time with special people. That's why I am still out here.....loving life.......glad your daughter and you had such a great time.

Agreed! This is one of my best if not best season ever, I didn't kill a deer, passed some smaller bucks but killed nothing, BUT my 7 year old killed his first and the excitement we both got out of that will carry me through many a dry seasons.

cograts tractor! it sounds like my year.I got my first deer with a crossbow opening day. it was a seven pt. Like you though i enjoyed the most about the season was the time i spent with my 14-year old girl. she got her first deer Thanksgiving weekend. She got a six pt.right out behind mothers house. It was kind of special because we were in grandpa's old but nice deer stand. We lost grandpa this past year, he sure would have been proud. My mother said she could not tell who was more excited about the deer her or me. I have not been able to get her to go with me now. i hope her hunting days are not threw.
