Right after shooting hours this morning, I saw five woodies headed my way below the treetops. Now, I love to shoot mallards, but I like eating wood duck breast even better. Well, I pull up, draw a starvation bead on the lead duck, pull the trigger and hear "THUNK".....Well, before I could even realize what just happened, I pumped another round into tho ol' 870 without thinking and pull the trigger...."CLICK". Turns out my shells had gotten wet, and the first shot lodged the wad in my choke tube VERY TIGHT and thankfully, the second shot was a complete dud and didn't fire at all. I hate to think what would've happened if it had fired. I'm sure it would've blown my barrel up and possibly hurt me pretty bad. I was by myself on the backside of a 60 acre buckbrush thicket, too....Not a place to be injured and all alone.

I always say a prayer before each hunt for safety, and looks like it paid off this morning.

Very lucky, I have rolled one barrel on a 12ga while duck hunting and it isn't funny. I was also very luck not to be hurt. The first 12 inches of the barrel was looking right back at me after the shot. Had to turn that 30 inch full choke into a 18 inch open. Good to hear you are OK.
