I was trying to find out what to plant in some woods that get about 3-4 hours of sun light a day. I want it to be something a can hunt in the beginning of bow season. Any ideas?
I planted oats in the woods one year. It was alot of work tho. I used a rake to get all the leaves pushed back and just broadcasted the seed. Once the leaves started fallin you could barely see the oats tho.

Use a leaf blower to keep the fall leaves off your food plot. You should only have to blow it off once or twice. Plant winter wheat/rye grass and clover.
Remember to fertilize if at all possible. The clover will keep growing through the spring/summer. Turkeys will be using it then as well.

Ive got several plots in the woods. They work good it you have just a little light. Deer will still hit them even if the leave cover some of it up. There is always a few blades come up through the leaves. I think the deer feel more comfortable eating them during daylight hours to.
