Feather sticks

    Those of you who have ever made a feather stick for fire starting, did you make it out of pine or oak? Trying to learn. Thanks.

    Pine or cedar or some other soft wood. Make sure it is from a dead, limb. Oak or another hardwood would have to be VERY dry (seasoned) to work well.

    I'm absolutely not an expert but I've had some experience.

    If ya can get hold of a pine knot , burns real hot with loads of sap in it . I usually carry a bunch of them cheap candles in foil . Easier.
