Got this on my camera today. Pic was taken Jan. 2 earliest I've ever seen it.

looks pretty healthy to me. I'm thinking he used to be a five pt, about the only deer I can't account for, unless he's new. I don[t know, no obvious injuries.

The way I understand it that is a good thing. Means all your does got bred early and your bucks will have more horn growth next year.

as white as the horns were on the 3 bucks I saw/missed yesterday , it wont be long and theirs will be on the ground

Friend of mine killed one the last day of Dec. It had already shed one side when he shot it and the other one fell off when he went down after the shot.

i have seen them shed in mid december, not that uncommon especially for an older buck.

A lot of bucks shed mid-December this season around here. Some of the smaller bucks are still carrying both sides though. Last year I was hunting a good 9 point and he started showing back up before the Christmas hunt. I was off the second day of the hunt and he shed the night before I could go, after I checked the cam the night before. One side of his sheds was laying there in front of the stand...

I have seen some on camera every year since I bought a camera dropping horns in early January. Probably 5 years now. But others still have them till March

i arrowed a big 8 yesterday evening and his horns were very much intact...we drug him by them and picked him up to the truck by his horns......seems like here around stuttgart we are still a good 3 weeks out (or at least on my place anyhow)

Got a pic on my camera with this one still on his head and the other antler already missing so now that buck is antler less as of 1-10-12

I just had a nice 3 1/2 yr old 130inch buck drop his left side. I hunt in zone 4b . i sure hope the others hang on a couple more weeks.

Buddy of mine lives couple miles down the road just sent me a pic of a 8 pt shed he found this morning. He was checking his game cam and had two pics of the buck 10 minutes apart. One with the horn one without, so he knew it was close. He went and looked, and it was about 10 yds out in the woods from his cam. Pretty good one to. Time to get the horn traps out!

Scouted some areas of Scattered Creek WMA yesterday and got a good look of what looked like a 10 point. Now that I know where I want my stand...I hope he holds on to his for a couple more weeks :cross:
