Does With Horns?

1047 Views 9 Replies 8 Participants Last post by  JR
Has anyone shot or seen does with horns?I shot a mature doe ,5 or 6 year old 2 or 3 years ago.She had little nubs like a button buck.Is there something wrong in the deer genetics? Or just a freak deer?I have also seen some big racked bucks in my area, but with the wrong plumbing if u know what i mean.
What are yall's thoughts on the subject?

Over past years there has been a couple of does around the Wilmar area that had been killed that had horns the last one I remember has been about fifteen years ago or more and it was a seven point. I believe it was around the time of 1992 to 1995.
Darn liberals telling the deer that it's okay to cross dress.

No realy, there's probably nothing wrong with the genetics of the herd. That is just a freak of nature that happens from time to time.
A friend of mine around Glenwood killed a 10 point doe in velvet about 2 years ago during MG season. He said he thought it was awful strange for velvet to still be on the rack, until he rolled it over to gut it and saw no male parts.

I live about 45 min. from glenwood.I saw a big nontypical buck that was the same way.It was a 29 point, just junk everywhere.I wonder,Are you supposed to tag the deer by the sex or by the horns? There are probably a lot of animals that way,we just dont see it.
I have heard of several over the years, but have personally only seen 2 in my liifetime, the 1st was in Drew county, back in the late '60s and the other, here in Ouachita county back in the mid 80's.....both of these were had racks with velvet and were junky looking!
My cousin killed one 4 or 5 years ago.Small horned spike.

Find a WO most times they will want to take a sample for research I am sure he will tell you what you need to do.
There was one killed several years ago that was in the BBC. I think that it was the only one that I can ever recall seeing, but I've heard of more than a few being killed. At least one or two times a year I will hear a story about someone getting one. What I was just wondering, would that be called a "Duck" or a "Boe"?
