Has anyone made a diy version of the caldwell field pod using a camera tripod?

    Any ideas? How to instructions?
    Thanks

I use an old camera tripod for my kids crossbow. The tripod came with a clamp made on it and two other pieces that you attach to the bottom of a camera so that you can clamp the camera on to the tripod. It just so happened that the camera piece screwed right in to the rail on the bottom of crossbow. So all I do is clamp the crossbow on to the tripod and tighten it down so nothing moves. The one I have tightens enough to hold the crossbow completely horizontal with just that one point of contact. I would suspect you could fashion something to hold your gun (maybe from a cheap gun cleaning type setup) and then attach the piece that supposed to go on the camera to that so that the whole thing clamps on to the tripod.
