Sorry if this has been discussed already. Did I hear correctly that the city is paying a guy $250 per day to use his two border collies to harass the geese each day in an effort to encourage them to search for greener pastures elsewhere? Wow, $250 per day is some good cash. Looks like I am in the long line of work. Seems that permit hunt would have been a whole lot cheaper. You reckon those who fought against the hunt will step up and pay?

$250 per day to move the problem to someone else.
$250.00 in shells and a couple of golf carts and we could have fixed that permanently I bet. Refreshments might have been a little higher though.
They really messed up on handling the press on this. They should have said " A special task force will be brought in to remove the geese which will then in turn be used at a local soup kitchen to feed the hungry in the area". Now, who's going to complain about that? Not that we are going to let hunters go in there and shoot them all.... Man, I'm sounding more like a republican every day. :skeptical:
$250 a day FOR TWO MONTHS is what I thought I heard him say on the news
Close the park at sundown and a couple of guys with night vision and suppressed subsonic rifles could take care of the problem in about 2 nights and PETA would be none the wiser.
Me and my lab Maxus would do it for that! He thinks the world is his playtoy!!!

Sounds like a job for me and my new air rifle!!!!
They need to do a covert mission with silenced sniper rifles. Send in the army to take em out and not leave a trace. kind of like sadam except keep it quiet.
It's hard not to leave blood on the ground.
What town are yall referring to. I cant believe with todays economy someone would OK such a waste of money. I'd be ticked off.

Poor some cheap Coke product on it...isn't that what the ASP uses on the road to clean up after a bad accident?
Wish I could have bid that job. Me and my lab will work much cheaper if anyone else is having this type of problem.
Yep. You heard it right. Just another example of a waste of taxpayer money because some tree-hugger is upset that some geese are gonna be getting killed. The geese will run off when the dogs are there and fly right back. Some dang good money for a job where absolutely nothing is getting done. I gotta get me a Pulaski County Public job.

From what I've seen you'd fit right in. :fit:
My best friend rides his bike out there all the time and sees the dogs regularly. He says that they all they do is scare the geese from one part of the park to the other. I don't see what this is accomplishing other than spending some money.
I just calculated the $250 a day times 60. Which my way of thinking you'd have to be out there everyday to be effective. That fella is gonna make $15,000. Not to shabby for 2 months worth of work. I was thinking of taking off in the winter time and heading to Alaska to drive on the ice roads, but this seems a whole lot easier:fit:

I understood this to be all donated funding by one of the save the goose groups, not city funds.
