There were a total of 252 deer killed in the poll and 164 responses for the Big Buck kills.

I hope you find the results interesting.... I appreciate all who took part in the polls.

And this year I'm hunting 7 - 9 a.m. and 4 - 6 p.m.

The 7 - 9 a.m. will cover 33.34 % of all deer killed and 36.59 % of the big bucks.

The 4 - 6 p.m. will cover 30.95 of all deer killed and 27.44 % of the big bucks.

Combined they cover 64.39 % of all deer killed and 64.03 % of the big bucks.

Good Hunting to you all and God Bless

I read a article once and it made sorta sense to me. And its based on the same type poll here you got with a slight difference in that it gave the percentage of how many hunters verses who hunted what times and what they killed. But it concluded that a majority of hunters hunted morning and evening and thus a majority of deer were killed during those times. But it looked at the percentages of hunters verses deer and it came to the conclusion, there was a higher percentage ratio killed between 11-1 o'clock per hunter. Hope that makes sense.

In other words the percentage for morning and evening was for example 25% killed a buck, but for the numbers who hunted mid-day, the percentage was like 35%. And I am just using examples on those numbers. But though there is a small percentage who hunt mid-day they have a higher ratio of killing a good buck.

Nice work MichaelT. The poll result are very similar to my personal experiences over the past 30 years:

My deer kills by the hour 1977 ~ 2007:
6:00a = 6
7:00a = 9
8:00a = 10
9:00a = 4
10:00a = 0
11:00a = 1
12:00p = 0
1:00p = 1
2:00p = 0
3:00p = 0
4:00p = 3
5:00p = 3
6:00p = 3

I'll be the first to admit that I've never really been a mid-day hunter, I normally climb down at around 10:00am and get back in the stand by 3:00pm. I'm sure firehog is right about the percentages during mid-day....but a fella's got to get a nap in some time during the day, and mid-day works for me.

Depending on what time of the year and the moon phases but the mid day hunting has always worked for me.

I'd say he's right. While I've probably taken more deer during what most consider the peak hunting hours, my deer taken per hours hunted would be higher in that 11-1 time period, but much like .270 quite often there is a nap involved in the equation.

I agree guys .... but like I said in the beginning ..... This isn't too scientific, it was just some fun to show where everyone on the board was hitting and missing this past season.

I could have made a poll on the hours that everyone was hunting, but that would also involve another poll covering every day of your hunts, because you dont always hunt the same hours everyday. That would have made things very tedious.

I just wanted something to give us a representative percentage covering the hours most folks hunt and see where the biggest number of deer fallo at and when the biggest deer fall at....

And what I found suprising was how close the percentages for each group at each hour were to each other...... like 3 to 4 p.m. were 3.17 and 3.05. Most all hour groups were pretty close.....I think that is interesting. The approximate same number of deer fall per hour as the percent of Big deer per hour.

Anyhow, I hope you enjoy searching out the facts... I think there are a few telling things in the polls.

God Bless

great info gives you a lot to think about.I usually hunt the midday period and have always had good action.I have killed most of my deer during the am and pm hunting, but all my trail cam pics of good bucks were in the 12 to 3 period.
