Last few years I've been walking creeks chasing smallmouth bass.let me tell you it's some of the funnest fishing I've ever done! You might not catch huge smallies but you can catch ALOT of fish .Does anyone else do this? If so what baits do yall like to use? A white rooster tail with silver blade catches about everything for me or a rebel craw does well.if someone is bored this spring or summer hit up a local creek and catch some fish it's a blast

I’ve been doing this exact fishing all my life. Wife and I do many trips in the summer. Hula grubs, anything crawfish looking, 4” worms, etc. I am already gearing up. Just waiting on spring rains to slow and some warm days.

Lots of smaller plastics and small inline spinners work. Try a long billed Rebel Wee Craw.

R9 Gold Rapala or an Arkie Watermelon seed Salty crawlin grub. In the streams I wade. I have done it a bunch in the counties around where I live.

I’ve been doing more of it the past couple years. A keitec 3” swim bait in Arkansas shiner is hard to beat. Rage menace or craw work also. I’ll use either a 1/4 or 1/8 oz jig head depending on depth and current. Used to wade fish a local creek all the time during the summer as a kid. Caught a lot of creek fish on hula grubs. So much fun catching smallies on light gear. Got back into it and forgot what i was missing!

One of my favorite things to do outside, right behind turkey hunting.

I use ultralight spinning gear and carry a good variety of lures, but honestly I throw this 90% or more.

Zman trd, ned rigged.

I fish it from sitting still on the bottom to skittering along the surface and it catches fish.

Most of the time I’m working it like a crawdad.

I havent done it much the last couple years, but used to wade for smallmouths a lot. I really like a craw bait on a shakey head. Seems to hang up a little less for me. If I'm in the canoe, I'll have one rod rigged with that, and one with a white or shiner Fluke.

Tubes, TRD and small worms are all great creek baits, but don't forget small topwaters like a baby Spook or Tiny Torpedo. 1/8 oz spinnerbaits are killers at times and never it a creek without..

Oh yeah, don't forget the Beetle Spin.

I’ve started using a pad crusher jr. Hookup ratio is not good but everything will grab them off the surface.
