Too many!!! Seriously, I don't know a total number but have read that coyote density is approximately 2 per square mile and bobcats are 1 per 2 square miles. For comparison, out west, coyote density is 4 per square mile. Arkansas is 53,182 square miles, so... My best guess would be 26,591 coyotes and bobcats would be 13,295 but these #'s sound a little low to me??? I'm sure we have areas where habitat allows 4 coyotes per square mile just like out west and more than one bobcat would be common in rich habitat areas. I would probably double my guess and say 50,000 coyotes and 25,000 bobcats!:thumb:
