If my Slave cylinder is going out,Will it make it difficult to put the truck into gear?Sometimes the only way to get it into gear is to kil it,put it in gear, and then restart the truck,Drive away.
I did'nt think of that,It only hangs up every once in a while.I'll look into it.Thanks for the idea.could, but could also mean the synchronizers in the tranny are not working properly.
Define weak please.Don't know much about clutches.could, but could also mean the synchronizers in the tranny are not working properly. could also mean clutch is not releasing all the way which could be the slave cylinder, or could be a weak pressure plate.
It does'nt grind at all,Its like I don't have the clutch pushed in at all.If you dont get enough pressure from your master cylinder, or if your slave valve is not going full stroke, it could grind shifting gears or at a stop. Those are your most likely areas. Syncrohs are most likely to wear out in higher gears.
Yes,Its only from a stop that I'm having trouble.Once going down the road, its fine.Just reread your post. Your only having trouble from a stop, which most likely is caused by master or slave cylinder. A weak pressure plate would be rare, and cause problems in all gears. Synchros will only cause problems in the gear it is wore out in, and they dont normally go bad in 1st or 2nd.
No,No leaks. Is your slave leaking at all? Had a new one that leaked slowly at the cylinder. Did the same thing. Replacing the slave cylinder was my only option.
The clutch seems fine, good stiff pedal and plenty of power,No slipping.I just put in a new clutch in my 03 Chevy. It was really weak. Hard to pull anything with a trailer. I put in a new clutch assembly. Luckily for me, my clutch was about $100 more than most other clutches before my year model. :smack: The truck drives quite a bit better and when I am going up a steep hill, pullllin my boat or 4 wheeler trailer, I can tell a major difference. I am not sure what the price difference is on your vehicle, but you might want to think about just getting the entire clutch assembly, just in case it's not just your slave cylinder. :twocents:
Yea I would start simple. Check the fluid, Bleed the slave cylinder, then check inside the vehicle up where the master cylinder enters through the firewall by the clutch pedal for leaks. You may never notice it, cause it will leak down the firewall and under the carpet. Thanks for the advice fellars!
