Catches??? Criteria includes live animal(except water sets) in trap. Leave no doubt one is looking at roadkill.

Haha fair enough. We may or may not have been in a hurry and may or may not have been late for school so photos were an afterthought.

Bet he loved telling all the other kids why he was late for school. He probably learned more from running traps with dad this morning that he did all week in school. Good Job!!!

He is eat up with anything hunting/fishing related. I’ve truly created a monster. We put out 11 sets yesterday evening. 3 snares, two 160s and 6 dps. I let him pick the locations to every set. At 6 he can already read sign better than a lot of adults I’ve been around in the woods. All of these were caught setting on sign and game trails. We don’t have any feeders on that property.

That's great!

My youngest was always a great blood tracker, I think its cause they are closer to the ground!

I joke but there is a lot to that, when you are looking at sign from 6ft high and making decisions on where to set a trap you need to remember the critters are only inches to a foot or so off the ground. Things look different from that perspective.

Sounds like you got him started off right.

Kinda late to the party this year but started getting new ID tags on the traps, new anchors on the ones that needed it and everything cleaned and organized today. Hope to finish up tonight and start setting in the morning. Should hopefully have some catch pics this weekend. Season was cut short for me last year with my son deciding to show up 2 months early and then a month in NICU. Thankfully wasn’t many problems there and he’s happy and healthy now so we are fixing to try and hit it hard. Caught 40 yotes almost 50 coons 23 beaver 6 cats 3 otter and I don’t know how many possums and skunks in the 4 weeks I got to run a line last year so hoping it starts off pretty hot again.

I didn’t get to reset after yesterday’s fox due to Christmas doings, so I was down to 5 sets last night. Had this good sized male this morning by 2 toes. I don’t think he had been there long.
I hope to reset and add mores sets today. I’m using 4 coils and covering with waxed dirt and grass clippings. I’ve been worried about them freezing with the high moisture in the ground, but so far so good. Hopefully it will keep drying.

night 2. Using 6 MB 550’s in dirt hole sets. Caught bobcat and fox last night so we are now at 3/6 on catches in just 48 hours. Bobcat put on a show lunging and growling. Boy is hooked. He wants more traps. lol.

ground is really frozen this am. I left the thrown traps and plan to go back around lunch and reset when ground has thawed. I gotta come up with some dry dirt.
