Was thinkin about goin this Saturday but i'm not sure if there is gonna be any water. I heard it is down out of the banks again, but maybe the rain will bring it back up. I have never been before but we are going with some guys that have been. Heard it is the best it has been in 10 years there now. Any other good news on the Cache?? Thanks

Best in 10 years?????? Think someone is pulling an early April fools joke on you!

Was a little water a week & a half ago to 2 weeks ago, not even enough then to flood out very much, but it is a foot below flood stage & falling fast! Water is gone & what few ducks that were there have went south with the fall, most likely to the Metro! What few are left are either on the Fed's rest area's or on private land that still has water.

Here is a link that shows current readings & future water level predictions with current rainfall figured in!

cache is running out FAST, i know the last time we were there it fell out 3" in one day. the Metro has been hot but slowing fast, the ducks are rafted up and the hunters are too. only everywhere unlike the ducks. i know people who have hammered them but from what i hear it is slowing down fast. i ain't going in there on the weekend fo' sho'.... all the school guys go back this week so all us "workin'" men can get back to the good huntin' now! everywhere should be getting better.

Have seen the pics and the ducks so I know they WERE there at one time. Oh well!
One word of advice "The only way you will ever know is to go check it out yourself" Then after season when someone tells you they smoked them everyday you don't have to sit there with your head down wishing you had went.

A friend of mine has been hunting private land around the cache and last week they killed over a hundred ducks. He has been hunting ducks for 45 or so years and he said that was the most ducks he has seen in twenty years but he didn't figure they would stay there long once the river went down. Good luck to all cause i figure them ducks are on their way to Mexico by now. Best bet is to be out every day you can now.

i got good buddies that hunt the cache above I-40. all private now but they say the ducks #'s have been unreal all season. they kill on average 40-65 ducks 90% mallards everyday. they're worst hunt this year was still around 20. seriously. some days in timber and some in fields. they tell me there is an over abundance of water on their place but it is PRIVATE. most of these great reports we hear are just like this one. in places that mot folks can't go. they have asked me to hunt with them but i'd feel imposing knowing they paid $50k and i was hunting for nothing......I hate feeling like i owe somebody.

I "HEAR", there is a place on the Cache, next to a sanctuary, that is covered with ducks. There isn't much water there so available space to hunt is short. Now remember, you cannot be on refuge ground until 5:00 am, so they are lining up on the hwy. @ 8:00 pm the night before to get a spot. :smack: Good luck with that!!!! :hopeless:
