:fit::fit:Did you see that disappear too?!!! I just thought I didn't know how to work the facebook deal!!:fit: They actually pm'd me these numbers!
Them 2 sons of 2 :censored:
Remember guys this is talking about adult does to adult (antlered) bucks. Sometimes we see six slick heads and two bucks and think there's 3X as many does as bucks when we probably saw as many bucks as adult does.

I too would be interested in their methodology.
Here is a YouTube video that I found that makes some valid points on hunters perspective on Buck to Doe ratios.

I gotta get me one of those cameras! Another thing I've tried to tell guys is all the does they are seeing aren't does. Roughly 25% of them are button bucks, but guys want to believe what they want to believe. Today what they want to believe is killing more does will somehow put more bucks in the woods.
I would be very curious to know how they came up with these numbers .
From people like them Creasey boys on AG&F facebook page. Check it out. Oh and mama Creasey, Quote: Bucks roam all over the country they bred all does. One doe getting bred will have 1 to 2 little ones each year if those 2 are doe they will have 2 fawns and this goes on and on so doe produce more deer than bucks. I'm no expert but I use common sense and knowledge.
I do agree with lots of button bucks on oct. 1 this tear saw triplets come to my feeder two were button bucks
It's not just button bucks, doe fawns are not included in this number either.
Buck to Doe

Way out of line in my neck of the woods; we have way too many does and we are kiling all of the good bucks and leaving the young to breed the does; I wish that for one year, that one would have to let the 8 points and bigger pass; we really need to kill some spikes and other young bucks that doesn't have a good gene pool; have seen a ton of small, inferior bucks that will never measure up to anything at all; some of these bucks I have seen for 2 years in a row and they still have small basket racks that make them illegal to kill; we have one spike that you would not believe how long his spikes are and this is his 4th year on our land; we try to get him during the youth hunts, but he disappears and then re-appears during bow season; I know of 3 differnt does he has bred just this year alone; he needs to die so bad; this is why in our area, they (agfc) needs to allow us to kill one buck of choice and make the next buck a 4 point or bigger on one side; time will tell.............rem

Most of the buck to doe ratio's that they get are from QDMA sheets from hunting clubs from what I understand. Most clubs that are in QDMA usually have a pretty well balanced deer herd anyway. I know our club it is very close and in one specific area I hunt I have more bucks than doe. The private ground I hunt in Zone 12 is probably 1 buck to 15 doe. I usually see 2 bucks a year there and a herd of doe every time I go out there.

Right and the ratio even gets better if you count those since the fawn crop would be at 1 to 1.
I've done a little math on this and if my math is correct using the inflated 1 million estimate the herd breaks down like this roughly.

529412 mature does

235294 "mature" or antlered bucks

235294 fawns

Now there have been 84,334 antlered bucks CHECKED in the state to date, or roughly 36% of all the antlered bucks in the state. Now keep in mind this is the best possible case. This doesn't even consider how many bucks were poached and never checked and how many were checked as does. This number is also based on a high herd estimate and an outstanding estimate of the b/d ratio. If you consider the b/d ratio is off just a little bit and the herd is less than a million as the harvest report indicates then you can safely bet that legal hunters are killing at least 50% of our antlered bucks each year. I'd say it's closer to 70%.
Something else to consider is that number of antlered bucks includes all the bucks that are protected under the 3 pr and can't legally be taken. If you subtract those from the antlered bucks and only look at legal antlered bucks harvested compared to legal bucks available you'd probably see that legal hunters are killing 80% or more of our legal bucks each year. No wonder you can't hardly see a legal buck this time of year. There just about all gone.

Interesting that in this day and time with instant results from computers and on line information, the Arkansas Game and Fish relies on 2 year old information that can only be discussed as all the FACTS are not current. Is this some form of protection for the "Professionals" at the G&F. Any one can tell you what the Facts were 2 years later and only the fact takers can challenge those results. Protection from obsolescent, must be an art form.
The low doe to fawn ratio worry's me. One of the effects of aflatoxin, is a reduced birth rate in affected animals. Kinda makes me wonder.

I've asked them about that on FB waiting for an answer.
way to many does are being killed in time we will all see a big decline in our deer numbers if you want more bucks you have to have the does thats the bottom line one healthy buck can breed alot of does but with limited doe you can only have so many new deer been hunting south ar for about 25 years and i can tell you that we dont have a third of the deer we used to have in the 80ties

Too late for where I was hunting today..... our deer sightings are way, way down....... camera too.
