I picked up this jacket over the weekend. It is an old school Cabelas gortex jacket. I'm not sure what the waistband looking thing is on the bottom inside tough. It snaps together in the front but I'm not sure what purpose it serves?

It's for snow. It keeps snow from coming up under the jacket. Ski jackets have those liners.

I've got one just like it in MO bottomland camo. Very warm jacket. You'll like it.

its for blocking the wind.

It's a chigger guard. If you pull it tight red bugs can't get past it.

Yea - like stoag said, Its for snow...er deep snow.

Ive had several "ski" jackets that all had that.
