I'd sure like getting one of my 94's cut, I think that would make one sweet knock around rifle. At one time I knew a 'smith that could do the work, no longer.
Talk to the lever gun guru, M.L. "Mick" McPherson. He writes for Precision Shooting Magazine and you might be able to get in touch with him through them. He has developed some wildcat cartridge designs that squeeze the last ounce from what a lever gun can do.
Any idea waht'd it'd run me? Guess if I wanted it done bad enough, the price wouldn't matter, huh? Unfortunately since I retired I have to ask before jumping in too deep!
Windchester used to sell their Trapper model with a 16 inch barrel and Marlin still offers a 16" barrel 336. Finding a new or used factory model might be cheaper in the long run and you wouldn't have the worry about get'n it done right.
