Just wondering, it should be a good opener in Mississippi. I'm thinking about going myself. I'm ready to see one flopping in front of me :thumb:

Got some buddies in Corinth beggin me to come and I'm sick about it because I'm stuck at work this weekend. Puttin in some extra time so I can be off work during our turkey season. So far I'm only gonna miss 4 days of the Arkansas season.Guess my turn will happen soon enough.

I wish I was going. This is the one year when I've got the vacation time to burn but no one wants to go. Any other year I wouldn't be able to take off and my phone would be ringing off the wall with folks wanting to go hunting in MS. :smack:

I hunted down there about 5 years ago and the later it is in their season the better the turkey hunting...

We always hunted early season (private land) and it was hard work. Hardly heard any birds and never actually connected.

Kinda funny how folks have different opinions based on where they hunt. Just last week I was talking to a coworkers husband who goes hunting in MS every year. He also hunts private land and was just saying last week how the youth hunt weekend and the regular season opener is when he's always had the best luck down there.
Heck, I'd just love to be able to hunt down there some and form my own opinion. :smack:

I am heading down next Tuesday afternoon for a 3 day hunt and it couldn't get here fast enough. I would not discriminate against pulling the trigger on one of those Mississippi gobblers.

We probably have our work cut out for us. My plan the first day is to tote the video camera and my friend is carrying his bow. Hope to get some good footage

Shooting one will be a bonus, the real thrill will be the opportunity to watch the sunrise and greet a new day in the turkey woods.

walking around the casinos in tunica wearing camo and toting a turkey decoy around might get you some strange looks
 Sometimes strange is a good thing  I about talked myself out of going, but theres nothing like an opening day so I'll be there playing in the one man banjo :thumb:

I would like to go, but I just can't. I got invited to hunt some private ground in Mississippi for the first time this year, but we're leaving for Texas Monday about 4 a.m. so I don't see time for the Mississippi hunt. :smack: Good luck to all going. :thumb:

It was a pretty tough hunt for our group.

The weather was nice except for the WIND!

Two of us set up on a bird this morning, the bird was between us and we were less than 250 yards apart. My buddy never heard the bird gobble and he gobbled at least 35 times. My buddy was winthin 150 yards of that bird and never heard him gobble. (wind)

It was a tough hunt but I got two good looks at longbeards in 2 1/2 days of hunting. I really can't complain too much about that.

I called in one this morning downhill and accross a small creek. He really put on a show (two-year-old) and it made a nice ending to a tough hunt.

That should keep me grinning until the youth hunt.

Well boys/girls I struck out in MS, never heard one gobble except a jake that entertained me the 7 times i called him in this morning. Not tring to make excuses, but the combination of hunting new ground and high winds made it difficult. It was a great trip however and had a blast camping and just enjoying the outdoors.

Myself and Rocketman leave for AL on Wednesday for a 3 day hunt so maybe we'll have better luck over there.

Congrats Selfbow....let's see some pics
