Well here it is a little over a month til the arrows start flyin and yesterday the landowner of the place I have hunted for 6 years tells me that his son and is friends are gonna hunt there this year. I have no problem with that. In fact I encourage it. My problem is, 1 month out and no place to go. Does anyone know of a lease or just good huntin land around Flippin or Yellville. My wife and me would sure be grateful.

sucks to hear that. dont think i am being a smartalleck, cause i am not, but, there is a world of public land in this great state we live in. it realy gripes me, when i hear people complain, (which you did not do btw), about not having a place to hunt. i found some places on the north side of Lake Ouachita during turkey season i may go back and deer hunt.

i drove thru Winona the other day on the way to Ola , and that place seemed pretty big, and had some real pretty country. might be an option for ya, if it aint too far. good luck and i hope it pans out for ya! BG12

The only problem I have with public land here is, you have to take your own tree to put a stand in. It's hard to get to the core land here because you have to cross private land to get to it. I dont mind at all hunting public land if it was "safe".

I always say: "you never know what lurks just around the next tree" in other words; pray about it, and if the Lord makes it happen...you're safe...otherwise, don't be in a big hurry to find that next tree[might be the boogeyman]

Flippin, your sittin in Gods country when it comes to public land hunting.. Buffalo River, Ozark National and Sylamore.. I know you may have to drive a little but some of the best public land in the country is within 45 minutes of Flippin-Yellville area.. The biggest problem is pickin out a spot, it all looks good.. Good luck to ya!!

I totally agree with Polywog.......I you can't find a great public land area here you aren't looking very hard..............I have lots of private land I can hunt but hunt public National Forrest because nobody does and the deer die of old age..........

I would say Buffalo National Forest is your best bet, you might even catch one of those big deer slippin around

I would get a map and check around ask landowners if they care if you hunt.

If you look for a spot a little further south aroud Ola let me know I might be able to work something out if you can find some duck or goose land for me around Yell County

Did the sign look strong enough to hold a ladder type stand or would a ground blind work better??

X2....

I travel 2 1/2hrs just to hunt over there :smack: You can put in at Buffalo City with a boat and hunt Sylamore WMA or Lower Buffalo Wildreness or Leatherwood Wildreness there are 10s of 1000s of Acres, You cant hardly ask for better than that for Public Land in Arkansas the Deer and turkey are thick over there. I know it doesnt see Alot of Hunters due to it being a Notorius Fishing Hole.. But thats the Upside you can hunt part of day then trout fish .. :thumb:

Geez, I wish I had your Problem

So if you're in God's country...you should trust God to supply you. Consider the birds....they neither spin nor sew their own clothing, rather, God furnishes them in glorious array:biggrin::biggrin::up:

I was going to say the Ouachita National forest is great, opening morning of bow season, we saw one doe about 70 yards on the other side of the road. We also jumped that 167 inch monster that was killed over there at the end of Oct, about 2 hours before the other guy shot him. :smack::smack::smack::smack::smack::smack::smack::smack: I'm still sick over that one. But I didn't see anyway to get close and try and get a shot at him where he wouldn't see me and run further away. But not this year. I'll chase him to Oklahoma, and buy me a license and chase him all the way across there if I have to.
