Any one else do their survey on the upcoming changes and proposals for the up coming hunting season. Some of the changes they are looking at is changing Bullfrog season and baglimit, allowing straight wall rifles in deer zones 4 and 5 as well for muzzleloading season, and finally allow incidently taking of feral hogs during any deer, elk, bear season with weapon legal for hunting deer, elk, deer season. Also looking at a first weekend of September velvet buck only three day season.
Also more counties being added to CWD Teir II management counties.

It seems like this year there are more items actually meaningful to the sportsmen of AR. Some of the big ones I saw were as mentioned above - allowing straight walled cartridges during zone 4 and 5 (out of my area), and straight walled cartridges for MUZZLE LOADER season. The name of the season is MUZZLE LOADER - how about restricting it to a ML. There is already three to six weeks of MG. I would rather see them get more restrictive if anything. Do away with private lands antlerless season - I am all for it. Three days of velvet buck season early Sept - I am not a fan of. It is hot as heck, a lot of game processors are not open, bucks still in bachelor herds, and they are easier to get on bait and pattern than at any other time of the year. My personal opinion, I think we are at a pretty good spot of middle ground with opportunity and resource protection. Some of these items seem like we are headed to way of Louisiana or even MS with the straight walled cartridges where it is going to eventually become one long firearm season. A straight wall does not make an AR 15, .450 Bushmaster a primitive weapon.

Lots of stuff in this survey - duck season dates, mud motors, duck hunting ooser regs, commercial fishing, bullfrogs, fishing length restrictions, guide licenses - and they finally listened to me - a stand alone turkey license;)

i would recommend all sportsmen take a look at this.

I strongly opposed the straight walls in mzl season but had no opinion on them for 4 and 5.

I don't see em making much difference here since we don't have a muzzel onmy season but if they are legal for muzzle season you have just turned muzzle season into opening week of gun season.

Also take a look at the game bird breeder regs.
Agfc needs to worry only about native species and stay out of the poultry and livestock industry.

I strongly opposed the straight walled cartridges during MZ season. I’m thrilled for folks to use those cartridges if they wish - during modern gun season. And MG is already pretty long in most zones. To me using straight walled cartridges during MZ would be akin to using an “air bow” during archery… it’s not the same and shouldn’t be allowed imo.

Exactly!

And as a side note, I took it, then got to end, No submit tab as before??? Went & ask for me to log in to “Something” I have not a clue what it was????? Entered my info as ask, or what I thought it was asking for???? Used G&F account info, “Not Valid” other info “Not Valid”, nothing valid!!!!

So in truth, I’m not for sure if after taking it & spending my time it was even “Valid” it was even submitted to even be considered!!!!

Agree to disagree but all this “New” and un-improved Dot-Com stuff is just for show!

Their IT “Vendor Issues” are living strong now.Deer checking issues & No deer harvest numbers this year, “Vendor Issues”, now a malfunction on the Turkey permit draw, “Vendor Issues” again, now this feasco of a survey formate!

Not a fan of the straight walled cartridge for Statewide use during mzl season and don't care for the free add on turkey tags.. Never cared for any of the free add on stuff like the sweet 16 or HIP.. Drop the price of the license and charge $5 extra for deer tags or $5 extra for turkey tags and have the free HIP and sweet 16 included when you buy a duck stamp or a license that they're needed with.. To many folks overlook the free add on stuff that can get you a ticket.. They keep trying to make crap to complicated with all the different rules for this location and that location..

I dont reply to the items that dont pertain to me - for example - straight walled cartridges in NE AR during MG or slot limits on Cane Cr Lake - that kind of thing. I dont feel I should have a say if I dont hunt or fish that area. To me, it is kind of like someone from New York City commenting on wolf hunting regs in Montana when they have never been to Montana.

I think g&f often finds themselves in a damned if you do and damned if you dont position. This may be one of those. Many surveys of the past had an item or two that illicited genuine interest. To be honest, this survey covers a lot of ground, even some things that many of us on this forum had not previously mentioned - and the collection of participants on this forum are pretty dang accomplished at finding fault - with anything and everything. The scope and diversity of the topics of this survey may be somewhat overwhelming. I am not sure that a survey divided into two surveys - hunting and fishing (for example) - may not have illicited more measured responses.

Do not forget, the whole of the AR G&F are comprised of a diverse and smart bunch of folks (almost as smart as the forum members:cool:). And I promise, across their ranks are folks on opposite sides of a lot of the survey topics.

With the diverse and smart bunch of folks making up this forum, I am confident that a lot of comments from this group come from an angle or approach not previously considered by someone who is not immersed in a particular topic. There is not a topic on the survey that at least several of the forum members are not very knowledgeable about. I worked for the Govt for a long time - and it is true that sometimes surveys are presented with the decisions already made - but I believe there will be many responses and viewpoints that were not previously anticipated.

That way they would know the respondants are actually AR residents who have skin in the game.

Survey requires home zip code. Some non residents, may not have an AR home zip code, but own property in AR and pay a lot more to AR in property taxes than many who think they have skin in the game.

not saying it’s a good thing, but is in fact truth. Around these parts now in my area there is most likely now more 100% dedicated hunting land owned by Out of State zip code interest than there is local anymore.

That second one kinda describes me. Muzzle hunting is a little bit of a process, which I don't really mind that much, but still it's a little more hassle. I mainly quit MZ hunting because the bullets suck. Very few of the deer I've shot were with a MZ but I've failed to recover more MZ shot deer than bow, crossbow, and modern gun combined. That with the added hassle of MZ in general and I kinda just quit going. Plus you can't really hunt in any kinda of rain and it seems like it always rains when I pull my muzzleloader out

The 45/70 will definitely be used if this passes but I don't know if I'd ever pull the muzzleloader back out if this doesn't pass
Describing why you dont care for ml hunting now describes some of the reasons why a straight wall cartridge is not on a level playing field as a ml

I strongly opposed it in the survey because I don't think they are comparable. But if it becomes a straight cartridge season instead of a muzzleloader season, well, I have one of those, too

You all know this is going to set the Elitist's bow hunters who have been wanting MG days & crossbows reduced ablaze adding more, for all intents and purposes, MG season days.

And to add more fuel to that fire, guess where this originated from, Mississippi! They legalized straight wall several years back, thus their counterparts here had to have it also. --------------------------------- But guess what else Mississippi legalized also,

These:

Yep anther Alternative -------,"Air Bows"! Wonder just how long it will be until the same group of folks who pushed this here want them passed here like there also?

Harvest numbers been down a little the last few years. Liberalize the restrictions and get those harvest numbers back up ;)

Man it's sad to see that Americans have become nothing but a bunch of lazy overweight victimized couch potatoes.

Too lazy to clean a muzzelloader so lets just add 2 more weeks of gun season to an already too long gun season.

Too lazy to learn to shoot a bow so lets not give those who aren't lazy couch potatoes more opportunity because that wouldnt be fair to those who choose to sit on their butts stuffing down ding dongs and mountain dew while watching the view instead of learning a new hunting skill.

You cats sound like a bunch of democrats who don't want folks who work harder and invest more to be rewarded more.
Gotta be fair to all the dead weight moochers of the world.

It's probably even racis.
