does anyone know what the acorn crop is going to be like this year across the state and in particular the ouachita mountains?

I know that the Hurricane bottoms around Bald Knob and Sylamore around Mt.View are loaded with both acorns and hickory nuts.. And the persimmon trees are full as well.. Should be a very good mast crop this year..

I live in Mountain Pine and the woods are full of White oak acorns. I was up in front of the house Sunday looking at all of the Red Oaks that blew down
and they were loaded as well. Not all of the trees have big acorns but they
have plenty of acorns. The Ouachita's should be good on acorns.:up:

Shoot, I saw pine trees with acorns on them yesterday! Should tell you something about the crop this year. They are everywhere!!!

Persimmon trees are hanging they are so full of fruit.

im from around jessieville...i dont know about up by the lake...but where i hunt..(24000) close to winona...the white oaks in the green belts are loaded...thats good news when you start lookin at corn prices!: )

I live on the North side of Lake Ouachita and when Gustav blew through it sounded like a hail storm from all tha acorns falling. I think it will be a good year. I've seen lots of hickory nuts too.

At our place outside of Heber Springs the acorns and hickorys are EVERYWHERE. Like was said before, not real big, but plenty of them.

I was in Winona today and there were tons of 'em. You can tell Gustav knocked a lot of them out of the tree.... they're still green.

the acorn trees are loaded down here and so is the hickory and the persimmon trees. It will be a real good year here i think

Yea, it looks like even my post oaks are going to produce this year. Although the recent high winds have blown a lot of them off prematurely. Will deer eat them even if they're still green?

I've seen decent acorns. Not every oak in the Ouachitas has them but there are a few.

There are acorns all over the ground now! Shoot, there's even a bunch of entire oak trees on the ground!

I went out this morning with my son. We decided to skip school since the power was out and do a little squirrel hunting. There are green acorns all over the place as well as quit a few trees. Great day to be in the woods!!

Lots of acorns on the ground right now. They are not touching the corn or anything else right now. Maybe they will eat all of them by late October.
