I noticed in my new Midway catalog that a company is now loading the old 5 mm Remington rimfire ammo. I read or saw somewhere that Remington may reintroduce the cartridge. Does anyone have any inside knowledge if that is true or not? I always thought it was a good round, just introduced before it's time. I guess Remington also started the short mag craze back in the 60's with the 6.5 and 350 Remington mags.
your thread sparked some interest in me. I did some looking around online and Thompson Center actually makes a barrel for the G2 Contender in 5mm Rem Mag
It's an interesting cartridge, I love to see reintroductions of "obsolete" rounds. Now if they'd just bring back the old .22 Winchester rimfire, I'd be able to shoot two of my rifles again! :smack:
Those 5MM terminal ballistics pictures were pretty impressive, I'd recommend headshots only!
No we are not reintroducing that cartridge any time soon. All of the shell making dies and bunters were sold to the company that is currently making them.
