Not familiar with them myself, but I am looking at a simmions sale catalog for this month and they have a M&P15 811003 Optic Ready 5.56 NA70 for sale for $850.

I've been saving my money to buy me an evil black rifle, and now that I am getting pretty close to my goal I've been wondering would I be better off getting one that is chambered for the 5.56 NATO round. Also which brand would you recommend; Colt, Bushmaster, Olympic Arms, Smith & Wesson, etc.

Get one marked 5.56. The 5.56 is loaded to a higher pressure than the 223 Remington. That way you'll be able to shoot either ammo through it. The chambers for 5.56 is slightly different from the 223 chamber. The 5.56 is cut with a longer leade. Also, make sure the barrel is marked 5.56, it doesn't matter what 's on the lower receiver. The barrel will usually be marked on the top of the barrel, in front of the front sight post. For instance, a Colt barrel will be marked something like this: C MP 556 1/7. Here's some info on reading and understanding barrel markings: http://www.biggerhammer.net/ar15/barrelsbolts/.
As far brands, as long as it meets spec, get the one that your wallet can afford. Colt will by far be the most expensive, but lots of people think (rightly so) that Colt has better QC than the rest of the brands. Right now, Bushy is probably the most popular. Others to consider are Rock River and DPMS.

Basicly he is saying if yoy buy one chambered for .223, and you shoot some 5.56 military surplus ammo.......ya might just have a small explosion, and ruin you EBR or yourself, due the 5.56 being loaded to a slightly higher pressure than the 223........

So what happens if you shoot 223 through the 5.56?
Shooting 223 in a rifle chambered for 5.56 fires as normal. If you shoot 5.56 through a 223, it usually shoots as normal, but 5.56 operates at a higher pressure than standard SAMMI 223, so the possibility is there for a catastrophic failure. 5.56 chambers are a little more loose than a 223 chamber, so the accuracy might not be as good as a 223 chamber.
I wouldn't get hung up on "accuracy" variations of the two rounds unless you are going to be shooting competitions. A new rifle from a reputabile company will shoot MOM (Minute of Man) out as farther than you will every shoot.
