I’ve got at least 3 sure enough color phase and maybe a 4th but not a 100%. On my bait. Only sure of 1 with a patch could be more but I think it’s the same bear that’s just real regular .

This is the first white chest patch bear I've seen in this area

I saw one area white oak acorns dropping (North Central AR Mtn Home area) but there were small and half them had bad spots so ... maybe we can hold bears for 12 more days

I have 4 barrels being hit, 3 consistently daytime ... the 4th barrel the bigger boar bear is night only but that could change ( he'd just started coming in )

he's a good bear - nothing great but any Arkansas bear is a success

I got a 10 yard shot 12' up in a tree on this one - anyone like close up bear hunting ??? should I take my recurve? compound ? hmmmmm

I’m not a bear hunter but isn’t 10 yards too close to the bait?

That’s pretty close but I set up mine about 18-20 yards for a compound shot. If I was planning on hunting with my recurve I’d try to be between 10 and 15 yards. You have to beat his nose more than his eyes. I killed one a couple years ago at 6 yards while he was circling the bait trying to wind me. These aren’t brown bears that are going to come and eat you.

its more about tree location/size etc than closeness .... but c'mon, don't ya'll want to scratch his nose before shooting him ?

    go to the 9:20 mark

This is a couple pics that are kind of hard to see the patch but I think it may be the same bear but not 100% sure.

Yeah it’s one of the bigger bear I have had come in. I have quite a few other pics that show its size but those were the few where you could see the patch.

That one hasn’t shown up in the daylight at all that I can tell.

This is my biggest bear. He has been on the bait a couple times in barely shooting light.

Baits have been out for a week and are getting hit pretty hard. Sorry no pics. Trail cams problems as usual. I have a love/hate relationship with cameras.
Sure seems like a long time until Oklahoma opener of October 1st.

well the 2 barrels I had being hit the hardest my Dad checked and ..... since Saturday's fill up, very little activity, both barrels still pretty much full

and ..... that's the way it goes, acorns have started to drop with the dry weather I guess ? we'll see what happens ... I was getting 500-600 video's a week :(

its happened almost every year I've bear baited

Hate that for you stealthy. It usually hits where I’m at about the 20th.
It sure would be nice to have that September 15 opener again. Hunters could be a lot more selective about what they shoot instead of picking from what’s left after the acorn rain starts.

It’s absolutely ridiculous that we don’t have a Sept 15th opener on the bears
This will be another year with the quota not filled I’m sure.
