Based on how the motor is acting and what I have read, it seems like the fwd gear and clutch dog are worn out in my Evinrude. Does anyone have any experience with this as far as 1) Best place to find parts 2) How hard is it to do yourself? & 3) Does anyone have these parts or know someone who could work on it cheaper than a mechanic will charge me if I get the parts? The motor will go in fwd and run but will act like it hits a stump and fall out of gear for a split second and then jump into drive again. Thanks in advance.

It is jumping in and out of gear. Pretty common issue. It could be that it needs to be properly adjusted. Or, it could be as described and the engagement ramps are rounded. They can be re-shaped to correct the problem. It's much cheaper than new gears.
