That a jack plate or cmc on it? and does it stay with the motor or go with the boat? Can you put a short shaft on a tall transom boat?

What year is it. Could you post a picture of the crack where it needs welding? Any dents in the hull bottom?

Set back plate goes with boat. No I would not recommend putting a short shaft on it

Bottom is smooth. I don't have a picture of the crack on my phone but I can assure its minor and is a quick fix.
