Planted 7 tomato plants today! Earliest I ever got them. Will wait two more weeks to plant some more. I normally don’t do black plastic but it will help keep soil temp warmer. If is doesn’t rain this tomorrow I will get sweet corn planted on Sat.
Just dried up enough to get the tractor in it and till it up yesterday, put out some cabbage plants today. Ain't in any hurry to put out anything else.
I'm gonna wait another week or two and hope the weather stabilizes some. Got mine broke up and it's drying out. I'd rather be a little late than have to replant 'cause I got in a hurry, like I've done in the past...d2
I’m reminding myself of this everyday. I saw a farmer planting corn last week and I drove by a rice field yesterday that already had the levee gates in it, but I personally think those guys are doing some serious gambling. It doesn’t help me in my fight against the urge though.
It probably wouldn't hurt to plant corn but I'm gonna wait till closer to April before I put anything in the ground. Don't plant taters anymore because I can't keep the fire ants out of them...d2
Yes - going to plant another twelve squash plants a little later, too. I plant twice as much as we need - just for the squirrels, deer, rabbits, birds, and bugs that get more than their fair share.
Last year was the first year I really planted a garden on my own. Never really cared for it, but I'll tell you my green thumb is getting a itchy trigger finger this year!
Well my wife disced our garden a few days before the big rain. The river got about 5 ft deep over it and washed all our loose top soil away. Not sure how our garden will do if we even get one in.
We might have a late freeze. Be prepared especially those tomato plants.
We have tried to have gardens many years but the deer eat em down. Short of building a small Fort Knox, not sure what I could do to stop them.
Got my corn planted yesterday finally ahead of this rain. Plan on planting green beans next weekend. And hopefully maters the next. Its supposed to be 31 here sunday night on north arkansas
I'm thinking the last frost was a few days ago....I think I'll set out my Tomatoes Sunday night showing 34 and Monday night 37 degrees, after that on a steady rise. After this big rain, I expect my potatoes to bust out of the ground this coming week.
