I just picked a marlin 1895GS..anyone have any info i need to know about on these,,,it is a 2002 model...think i am going to put a 2x7x32 scope on it ......its going to be another 100 yard brush gun with factory ammo....probably Winchester 300 grain
Great gun and caliber. Wear hearing protection. Factory loads are pretty mild but will get the job done without any problem. If you go to LeverEvolution or some warm hand loads your shoulder will feel a big difference.
That would be okay then...anything original! I once contmplated drilling my Model 94 .32 Win.SPL. and my son threw a fit; went out and bought my Win. 30/30 mdl.94AE scoped rifle and traded me outta the .32! He decidedly got the better end of the deal!
I put a 2x7 shotgun scope on the two I have. Run levervolution through them. Ray charles can track the deer if it doesn't drt. Practice or sight in with a sled. You'll never feel the recoil during the hunt. By using the sled, you get a very accurate set on the scope without developing a flinch. My muzzle loader is more abusive than either of my 45/70s.
Quote from my neighbor who stood next to me while firing mine many years ago..."THAT DAMN THING JARS THE GROUND WHEN YOU SHOOT IT!!!!!" IMHO not a better brush gun around!
You think that jarred the ground, you wouldn’t believe what a 90 mm bazooka does! Lol there’s only one safe place when one of those goes of...on the trigger! Ask me how I know this!
I highly recommend the following scope for a good brush rifle. It is extremely clear and works great for distances to 100 yards. I have one on my 44 mag carbine. Vortex DIAMONDBACK® 1.75-5X32 RIFLESCOPE
Mount the scope as low as possible. Since the stock is designed for using iron sights it's really awkward if you mount the scope high.
