Seems to me the number of buck pics posted to the forum is down this year. Anyone else think so?

I agree. I don’t think the Agfc has 1 clue how many deer we have or how many we killed! They will claim a record year and and also claim we got more deer than we ever had. They will blame record harvest on a bunch of acorns and they will blame a declining harvest on to many acorns. I don’t get it. Are acorns the problem? I’ve decided to only shoot large 135”+ bucks from now on so It May be awhile before I kill a horned deer but I’ve killed enuf small ones that I’m over it.

I've had a pretty good year as far as sightings go. Recon I've seen right at 20 legal bucks, hunting nothing but public land. Could have easily filled both buck tags just a couple of weeks into season.

I have only laid my eyes on 4 legal bucks since muzzleloader season and only one of those was a shooter. Unfortunately I missed him because I rushed the shot. This is in southern Arkansas we're the deer numbers are suppose to be high.Worst year I think I have ever had.

Kind of weird depending on where you are at. I am north, and easy I had up to 10 bucks in bachelor groups, had the heaviest rut I have ever had, and saw shooter bucks (YES, SOME WERE DINKS) every day. A 130 class buck is big in my area, I did shoot a 124 inch buck this year, and was happy to do it.

I do have a group on 160 acres that corners me that does the brown, it's down routine. That does not help.

I try to have everything on my place they need to keep them from venturing over there.

We had the most does, bucks, and fawns we have had in six or seven years in my local area - and oddly, the most intense rut I have EVER witnessed. Had a 120” deer chasing a doe around the cars in the front yard the day befor MG. Lots of chasing and cruising. Almost no scrapes and very few rubs - I dont think they had time.

What type of ground do you hunt - lightly hunted or quite a few folks - are the other hunters in the area selective or brown its down?

Sounds like my uncle. He has a stand he ran power to from his house. He keeps a small fan and a little heater in it.

One year he killed two deer over 140 out of it. I asked him how many days he hunted and he laughed and said "all of them". When you can hunt everyday it makes a difference.

I'm new guys on here. Bit I know of 3 killed on public in my neck of the woods that will go 160 or better. 2 of them way way better. If you don't personally know them u would never know. Also know a gentleman from a lifelong family friend that has a possible state record killed also public land. He has it just skull mounted. Does not care for any recognition an could care less. Same guy has killed 2 of the 3 above

I’ve seen 3 legal bucks this year, killed one. Seen 5 bucks all together.

Last year i saw 5 bucks just in one spot i hunt throughout the year lol. But last year it seemed like i could sit anywhere and see deer, this year has been much slower but I’ve had more success.
