He uses it, a lot. Smokes all of the holiday meats on it. Grills chickens, burgers, steaks. The meat that comes off of it is excellent. Makes a mean burger patty.
Mine is a tad bent up. Carrying in back of truck bed while connected to fifth wheel. Turns are a bit of a issue! LOL But it all works. One day I might sell it and get two.........one big one for home, and the GM Davey Crockett to travel with.
I was all in on the Davy crocket until JB Weld questioned the manhood of y’all using pellets or even gas!! Thank you Mr Weld with the cash you saved me I will be buying some nice porter house steaks to cook on my CHARCOAL grill.
I wasn't casting off on a cast iron skillet steak by no means. We do them that way as well but very rarely are they beef. Usually deer steaks when I get one lol
I've cooked several in a cast iron skillet. When I was in college the Food4less would put the out of date steaks in the freezer. We would by a couple and head to the woods. Build a fire and get the pan smoking hot then spindle some salt and pepper in it and throw that steak in. It had a smokey flavor from the wood.
We always bought them bases on price, so we probably eating round steaks.
Well first, I can't cook a steak to beat the band. Confession time! So if you have a method for cooking steak let me know. Once a year, we might buy one. LOL
And.......another confession.
Rec Tec quit making the Mini...........sadly. And I have two 'homes' (Home and the farm) and I need a permanent smoker. Then, while the mini is portable, as in the legs fold up, it weighs over 100 lbs. And it takes up way too much valuable storage space in the basement of the trailer. SO............I bought myself a Christmas Present. Be here in a few days.
I got the Davy Crockett pellet smoker. So, I'll post reviews and be able to compare it to the Rec Tec before too awful long.

Manhood? You realize y'all in here arguing about cooking, right? Manly way to grill a steak is to open the blinds so you can see your old lady do it. I'm usually drinking a beer and watching a ballgame. She'll call me when the plate is on the table. If it's her birthday, I'll put my plate in the sink.
