I need a new one. The one I have isn't good, I use to have a nicer one but wore it out. Now I just have the ones that came with my climber, and honestly, I dont' wear it like I should because it's a pain.
So which ones are you guys using that you really like? I'm going to put lifelines on all my sets and get back to 100% wearing a harness when I get off the ground, but wanna get a good one so I stick to it.
Lot of good ones being made these days. I wear an old summit SOP with the mesh back. Lightweight, easy to put on over clothes and doesn't get in my way.
I use a hunter safety system harness. Can’t remember which model. Seat beat buckle leg straps make it easy to get on. Luckily for me my jacket has premade hole in back to run harness so so I can wear under it. Easy to take off jacket when it warms up during mid morning.
I wore a big game diamondback for several years and liked it fine, but I switched to a rock climbing harness this year and absolutely love it. I don’t see myself switching back at any point in the future. Much more comfortable, less cumbersome, and weighs next to nothing.
I use the big game EZ-on harness and have zero complaints on it. Easy on and off and easy to adjust, also has foot hold emergency strap. And it’s half the price of most of them.
I have a Gorilla that is easy to get into, mesh with pockets that really come in handy. I can put it on in the dark. Try that with the harness that comes with a stand. Wal Mart about $50.
The harness does NOT come with a attachment belt, strap, whatever you want to call it to go to the tree, just FYI. Easy on, easy off, weighs next to nothing, and if you do fall you will be facing the tree instead of away from it and you won’t have to try and flip yourself around to be able to get back in the stand, to your sticks, or whatever.
I have no issues whatsoever. I promise if you switch you would’ve wished you’d done it years ago. They weigh next to nothing and there’s zero restriction with them. Also like has been stated they are safer and you are facing the tree when and if you fall.
I do not use mine to hang stands but you could very easily.
Ok thanks. If it has a way to be attached like a lineman while hanging stands I am going to try it. I hunt 90% public land and am always moving lock ons around.
Ok. I just wasn't sure how steady it would hold you not being hooked by your hips. I'm sure there are some threads on AT I can search through to find out. Thanks for the info.
