Im not the most experienced hunter, but every thanksgiving I hunt for about a 4 day span on a large swath of private land in Northwest Arkansas during the week. Two years ago i took a modest 8 pt, and last year i took a very tall wall-hanging 10. Both of these deer have come from no calls, scents, or anything, just me sitting there. I was hoping to try out a few scents, rattles, or calls, but im not really sure where to begin. With what you guys are seeing with the rut, do you think I should invest my time and money in a scent/rattle/ or call? If so, what kind? ill be hunting the 23-25th, all days have clear skies and 55-60 degree temps.
Proof is in the pudding (sometimes)...
Couple of grunts, little bit of bleating mixed in. The can for a bleat, but I can't help you on the grunting, I use my mouth for that...He came in on a rope last weekend...
Would the 25th and then be too late for bleats? i know much of it is dependant upon the rut but ive never dabbled in it much
