I've heard good things about them and thinking of trying one . Well my son gave me one and the question I have is how do you get to where your going to hunt ? Every step I take I can hear that thing . Wrap it in clothing , put rubber over the holes and I can still hear it and I'm hard hearing .

That's some funny stuff right there. It has a plastic pull tab over the bottom single hole. Pull it out and it will be quiet. Cover the hole with you finger and flip it when you want to make some noise.
I kept stopping and re reading what your last two sentences and busting out laughing. It's only as funny because I had to buy a new one last weekend and I had to walk through Walmart with mine in a package trying to keep it quiet. The lady working the register looked at me like I was crazy.

Yep. I bought a new one 2-3 weeks ago but it didn't make any noise until the lady working the register picked it up to scan it. It scared her when it sounded off and she slung it up in the air hollering "oh my lawd what was that?". I just started laughing.

I'd never had any luck with the can until last year. I was hunting with my 6 year old and a spike stepped out at 190 yards. I grunted at him a couple times and he stopped and looked our way but wasn't coming in. I flipped the can twice and here he comes in a trot, straight to us. My boy already had his gun over the side of the stand and was ready. He jogged to within a hundred yards of us and stepped off into the thicket. I told him to stay ready because he could pop back out anywhere. I flipped the can one more time and about 30 seconds later he stepped out at 50 yards, broadside. DRT

I don't go into the woods without mine. I got this guy to step out using the can and I do believe I wouldn't have got him if I didn't use the can on him. He was in the thicket slipping around me. I turned the can over twice in a row and he turned and stepped right on out. I've killed several other deer with the can and grunt call also and passed on countless bucks using the combo.

I got on the stand one morning about 8:30, it had just stopped raining. I hadn’t even set down yet, I was still getting all of my stuff situated. I just happen to look up and saw this guy walking on the next ridge over going the opposite way. I had the can in my pocket and pulled it out and started flipping it over as fast as I could. About a minute later I shot him directly under neath me. He may have been 5 yards from the base of my tree. (Terrible shot angle by the way, I was lucky I found him.)

On the side of a mountain in NF one morning i heard a limb snap. I got the can out and flipped it a few times. Thirty seconds later i see 4 coyotes coming at me fast. When i drew my bow one seen me and they all went to running and i ended missing. When i turned to get another arrow a fifth yote was standing behind me. It works on deer too.

I have heard people talk about them for years. I bought 1 and tried it the year they came out. Have owned 6 or7 now. I have given or thrown all off them away. Have I seen deer when using them? A few times. Do I verdict the call for serving those deer? No. The last buck I saw in the distance and tried to call closer with "the can" raised his grad loomed in my direction from 100 yards out and hauled butt away to my buddy. It was a cross wind so no way he smelled me. I gave that thing to my buddy since it worked out better for him than me. Not eating they don't work sometimes, bit the people that swear by them I'd pay good money for lessons IF I could be convenced the deer are coming as a response to that can. And not just strolling thru the area amyway. Y buddy tells me "you hit to believe". Myself I'm short on faith.

I have definately grunted in 1 buck. He charged rught in hair bristled up on his back and posturing. Then he started rubbing a sapling and broke it off. Never had good luck with the can.

Does anyone want to trade luck with me? 36 years of rattling horns, I've had it work ONCE. 27 years grunting (and roaring), I've had it work ONCE. 8 years using a can, I've NEVER had it work. My luck utterly, absolutely and completely sucks! Any takers? C'mon, somebody give a brother a break!!!
I'd gladly trade with you, Tug. Only problem is my luck is just like yours! Apparently, you and I aren't doing something right.

Well, was that was partially tongue in cheek. But only partially. All but about 12 years of that time was down in the cypress swamps of deep south Louisiana. The relatively low deer numbers and high buck to doe ratio make it an absolute rarity to grunt or rattle in a buck. Where the sucky luck comes in, is in 12 years of doing it in Arkansas, you'd think it would have happened more than once.

I'm not a big fan of the Can. I've used it alot with few positive results. Like others said, blowing in the hole makes it a better call than simply flipping it over.

The buck roar works much better IMO and is my go-to call. I still carry the Can in my pack anyways. Maybe one day it will work.

That's the thing about calls, lures, decoys and scents; they don't ever work, until one time they do. I've rattled and grunted for years. Sometimes deer respond to it, sometimes they don't. I've flipped a can at a great many deer with no success. Until one day that little buck ran about 150 yards towards us and my son got his first deer. I'd rather have it available to me and it not work than to sit there and hope for the best. I figure as long as I've got a grunt call or can, it's one more tool in the arsenal.

I've had bucks and does come in on a string after using the can call. Sometimes they come in looking hard so make sure you are ready after using it. I have definitely grunted in more bucks though. I blind grunted in a 10 point yesterday and he came to 15 yards, and made a rub and a scrape.
