I have seen two mature bucks chasing hard and acting dumb in the last 4 days. The one yesterday took a dirt nap and the other narrowly escaped. One at 6 pm and the other at 4 pm. Morning have been slow as far as chasing goes for me
We hunt in wirth and my nephew had a big buck following a doe around yesterday morning. He wasn't running her but was walking behind her. My son saw a big 8 chasing a doe around him and couldn't get him stop. I shot a 8 that was checking scrapes.
Ouachita Mountains. Bucks are checking does. A doe almost run over me yesterday. I just cocked the hammer and aimed behind her. 20 seconds later he put quite the show on grunting , nose to the ground. He lost her trail and was below a dip in the hill. I could see his horns just couldnt make out how big he was. This was at 8:00 a.m. Saturday.
At least one buck in Pope County is trailing does. The seeking phase is in full-swing. The rut won't happen until the does allow it next month, but bucks are at least, thinking less about food and more about tail.
All over the map in Eastern Garland County, Western Saline county. I have seen 1 buck chasing, Have seen several nice bucks moving, middle of the day,
but have also saw bucks grouped up this last week.
This is the least active muzzleloading as far as seeking and chasing that I have seen in years.
Where the heck did the bucks go?
I was seeing several good sized bucks on the private property I hunt in Pope county now I have plenty of does but no bucks so far... Nothing on trail cam just nothing....
