Maybe they are selling the hide and the meat comes free.

It's legal to sell raccoons for meat, have to leave a foot attached so folks can see it's not a house cat.

You are 100% right d2,6 coons at 7.50 apiece fills my corn feeder, 9 fills my gas tank... While coons are not my target animal(s) they certainly do help.I recently got permision to trap a 1000 acre club just because of the amount of COONS on their club! Look at it this way,2-3 nights with 3 dozen 160 bucket sets,..... you do the math.

I think the really hard hitting question hasn't been asked yet.

WHO is buying coon meat? I mean, is possum and squirrel meat getting scarce for some folks?

Probably not in Izard County. Lets just say you would have to go further south to find a market. Maybe that will answer your question too Rattle.

skinned, gutted, tail off, head on and one back foot is what most want to see...roll them up in a walmart bag and freeze

cook like you would a rabbit, whole, quartered, fried, boiled, slow-cooked or bar-b-qued all the same...season to taste

Not all of my customers are black. I have two that are white. Apparently, in some quarters, the big thing down here for super bowl Sunday is BBQ'D coon. I ain't joking at all. A lot of my coon meat winds up in Detroit, Flint, Chicago and places north. The kids or grand kids come home for the holidays and their parents or grand parents back up north have them bring home as many as they can get. I could sell a box car load if I had them to sell...d2

Put an ad in the paper or on the local radio station and your demand will outstrip your supply...d2
