Folks wanted to let you know how our family deer day went. And I must say, we had way more folks than I anticipated being there. The nature center tried to keep track but said they had stopped after a while, I counted up to the meeting time, and had 300, and they said they had total around 450 folks come through. The talley on the simulators were around 100 kids, shooting the hunting simulator, and 70 kids shooting the bows and BB guns. We fed 260 hotdogs and brats. We past out about 150 ADHA pamplets to interested hunters.
In the meeting room with the speakers, I counted 60 different folks attending the lectures, with some standing in the back. The fawn albino deer, was a huge success, and a lot of kids got to see the fawn. We should have a nice article in the sundays paper covering the ADHA event and a picture with the kids and the fawn and a few ADHA members.
I want to thank, Cory Gray, State Deer program coordinator, Matt Finley QDMA(Hambone), Lynn Fair Local Area private land biologist, Brian and Tom from the Forestry Commission, and Brian from the enforcement division, and Jodi and Barbra, and all the volunteer help they have. And last but not least Chance Woods AGFC, for his dedication with working with the kids out there in the hot sun, good job Mr. Woods. The Speakers and Mr. Woods came to this on their off day, to speak, and we really appreciate their talks and I feel many hunters came away, having a better understanding on many different aspects of management to their land and their region deer herd, and some of the states programs.
Dan Melton of Jonesboro brought the albino fawn, and really did a good job, showing the deer, and was a huge success with the kids..Appreciate that.
Also want to say thanks to all the members who helped on this project and that came out today, many, many hunters came by and thanked us for holding the event, for them and their kids.
I measured my copper head snake, and it measured 68 1/2 inches long with 10 1/2 inches around. Reflex, and Deerhunter helped me measure the snake.
4 inches short of 6' Pretty good size snake.

That was the hottest spot to be during the event. But it was worth it to make the event a success. I was so hot that when I got home I had to jump in the pool to cool off before coming into work.

Clyde you did a awesome job, there buddy, appreciate the brats, and they were once again the greatest tasting brat I have ever eaten. :thumb:
We even have people that I believe have never tried or eaten deer meat before highly impressed with the taste of deer jerky and summer sausage. Just this is good PR towards hunting in general when some that might have been non hunters that tried the deer meat for the first time.
We went through 10 lbs of jerky and 5 lbs of summer sausage pretty quick.

Yes I bet that awesome deerhunter is also thinking, boy the deer between that guys legs, sure is awsome, and sure would like to be carrying it out over my shoulders and add it to my many other fawn kills after I precision drill it with my cross bow at 55 yards. :thumb:
I never thought about having a live fawn around our biggest fawn killer...I bet he was licking his chops, all day. Like a fox in the hen house not able to even smell the chickens, just look. :thumb:
