Firehog-
Thanks for the information, but others have also e-mailed me and told me about the ADH. I thought maybe this was a large-scale organization like the Texas Trophy Hunters, or some of the other state organizations.
Thanks again.
Hey Elkhunter, Sorry for not getting a more detailed explanation sooner, I sent you a private message, and notice you haven't read it, being new to the BB, if you don't know where its at, look at the top right hand corner, and click on private message, and it will show anyone who sent you a private message.. :thumb:
Sorry for not getting the heads up on cleaning some off topic post...I try to let the off topic stuff stay a few days and then after everyone reads it, I delete it..I found out how to split threads now, so I will do that from now on..
Anyways, on the ADHA, you said some folks had emailed you and told you about the ADHA, don't know what they said but we started this back last June, and have been working on it up till this day. Its been a long hard process, getting everything accomplished, and we still are working on things. We have made accomplishments in such a short time if you look at the whole picuture. From writing our by-laws, mission statement, filing everything with the government, and still waiting on some of that, getting our website, making pamplets, building our backdrop for shows, ordering stickers and t-shirts, sending out packages to the folks who want to go ahead and join, setting up a bank account, and PO Box, electing our officers and directors, coordinating events across the state to get this up and running, its been a fun journey, but also a difficult journey.
Is the ADHA just a local organization? It seems that most of the members here on this site are from one part of the state. We are all volunteers across the state, and as you mentioned it appears some are located just in one are, we do have many officers in one area, just due to getting started, but we set things up for the future where when new officers get elected we can change the PO Box, and we picked a bank that is located strong throughout the state. So in the future there won't be a problem moving our account. We had to start at some place but we expect that to change as time goes on.
We have members and directors all across the state, except the very south east region we don't have a director yet, we hope to get a volunteer soon in that area, to build a membership base.
We have not went out public yet, to really promote the ADHA, except for the guys on here, and thats where it originated from. We have our tax exempt application still being processed and we want to get that complete before we go full public.
We have held fellowship dinners and had hunts to get the hunters together, and its been a lot of fun. We have a family day event schedule in Jonesboro, and we hope to spread these type of events out statewide, when we get more members. The family day event is set up for the youth and hunters alike, we will have the QDM representative and the Deer Coordinator of the state from AGFC speaking to the hunters as well as the AGFC Bow and air rifle program for the kids. We have made contacts with some other organization like the Hunters feeding the hungry, and the disable hunters asscociation, and we hope to work with them and assist them in any way we can in the future. But we are just starting, so it will take some time to get things going.
We hope the hunters join us, and see the value of having a organized alliance for all methods of deer hunters, working together is the only way we can continue our sport and heritage. We're still working on many things, and as the first president of the organization, I feel extremely proud of the hunters that have helped and contributed in getting this up to the point its at.
If by chance your interested in us, I sent you my phone number a few days back, please feel free to call anytime.. Lee
