President Bush's FY 2005 Budget requested $80 million for State Wildlife Grants, an increase of $10 million over the amount appropriated in FY 2004. In April 2004, 111 Members of the House of Representatives sent on to a letter of support for the State Wildlife Grants to the House Appropriations Committee and 52 Senators sent a similar letter to the Senate Appropriations Committee. In June 2004, the House of Representatives approved $67.5 million for State Wildlife Grants. The Senate Appropriations Committee approved a funding level of $75 million for State Wildlife Grants. The program was ultimately funded through the Fiscal Year 2005 Consolidated Appropriations Act, which was signed into law by President Bush on December 8, 2004. This final bill included approximately $70 million for the State Wildlife Grants program. (The final amount will be subject to two additional across-the-board cuts, of .594 percent and .83 percent.)

I guess that extra 10 million will go to the woodpecker. :smack: Would rather see it used somewhere else. The bird has made it this far without extra help, why does it need it now?

Well I would rather it go here in Arkansas instead of one of those anti hunting states such as California.
