We use pecans, in old wooden box traps, they go for them!
Take care SH...them things WILL bite....hard to get them to turn loose too...

Oh yeah them squirrels can bite clean through your ear................I know from experience :smack:
Let me see if I understand this. You trap the squirrel. Keep it in a cage. Feed and water it until season opens. Shoot the squirrel in the cage and then show off your kill. When telling about what a good squirrel hunter you are, you fail to mention the trap and cage. Does the shotgun tear up the cage?
I think that most of us trapped...something...tree rats, rabbits, possums, or other whatever things when we were 13 or 14. I know I did...but I can't remember what I did with them. Not many critters were safe when I went on safari with my Daisy pump. We all get past that stage I guess......
I used bad "management strategies" when I was real young. I had no one to help me make good decisions. Take a kid to the woods........teach him. :thumb:

Use a tow sack with a draw string on it dump squirrel into tow sack from trap, draw string, draw it down tight and work rat in corner, pop it on head with mallet. You got a nice tree rat and it ain't shot up! :thumb:

I planned on putting it in a cage that my grandpa has and if it doesn't eat after a day or two i'll let it go i want to end up with some baby squirrel's but chances are its not going to happen
I hear that wild animals+cage=Starving animals I dont want all that
I use whole corn for my trap. Put a few kernels on the ground at the entrance and a bigger pile near the trip panel and hope for the best. I bought a little trap from cabelas and caught 10 grays in the same spot. I then released them for my son's feist pup. Some lived. Most did not.
