Quail Nov. 1, 2005-Feb. 5, 2006 Bag limit: 6

Rabbit Sept. 3, 2005-Feb. 28, 2006 Bag limit: 8

Squirrel(Fall) Bag limit:8

Statewide Sept. 10, 2005-Feb. 28, 2006

Squirrel(Spring) May 13-June 11, 2006 Bag limit:8

Crow Sept. 3, 2005-Feb. 23, 2006 Thursday-Monday

Does anyone other than me think it's crazy to have the squirrel season opening state wide the second weekend of September?
As much as I like squirrel hunting, I feel almost obligated to be out in the woods on opening morning but this early season opening is just rediculous. It's just not the same as having the traditional 1st Saturday in October opening that I've grown up with down in L.A. At least by October we do have a slight chance of some cooler weather.
Maybe the earlier opening is a good thing for the Ozarks and Ouachitas but I think it stinks for this area.

I guess its a personal preferance. I personally think the seasons here suck!! I think it aught to be like Missouri and Kansas where the season is closed only during the spring breeding season. I hunt dogs and even though I would only kill a very small amount of squirrels during the warm weather, the dogs HAVE to be in the woods year round to amount to a hill of beans. That only leaves one option, hunt them in your own woods and just let them tree without getting the fur. It is hard on the dogs but right now its the only option we have. I for one am EXTREAMLY thankful for the Spring season and the early start to our Fall season!!!
