I'm working on the next issue. Do any of y'all have some good bowhunting stores - true ones that is - particularly if they involve young bowhunters?
I could use some good stories.
Thanks,
Keith

Keith I got a young one into bowhunting a few years ago, and he killed his first deer with a bow while hunting with me. He was about 15 or 16, didn't have the money for a bow, so I bought one for him, and he was lefthanded, which made it harder for me to find a good used one. Anyway, I got him a bow and we started shooting that summer and he got pretty good, and we shot a couple tournaments. So when hunting season started I took him when he could go. Then it got cold and I started seeing a doe and and button buck regularly, so I told him he needed to go with me. He did and I put him in the stand that I was hunting and here they came, he shot the button buck, hit it in the neck. I heard him shoot and I asked him on the radio, what was it and he was breathing hard and said it's a little buck. I said did you hit it, he said yea I hit it in the neck. I said neck, how far did it run, he said it didn't, just fell over. I said ok just stay in the stand and watch him. Then I called his mother from the stand and was whispering, "Jim killed a deer" and she was whispering back, "he did". graemlins/smack.gif Here husband was in the back ground and ask her why was she whispering? :D It is great to take a kid hunting, and they kill there first deer, and with a bow at that. graemlins/thumb.gif It just doesn't get much better than that. I couldn't have been happier if I had killed a Pope and Young,.......well........... I was happy for him anyway. graemlins/thumb.gif
