We would like to take this time to give you some information as to how things are progressing. Around June the first we started this process of organizing the association, and it has been a steady four months of hard work from many dedicated hunters that came from this board. As I stated on the previous post we had our meeting with the attorney and the CPA, to file our paper work. As I speak they are working on that paper work. Once they finalize all the paper work, they will send the drafts to us for approval, and we in-turn will review it, approve and send it back for them to file with the state and the federal government.
We have sixteen paying charters, who have committed in this project with $100.00 each for a charter membership. Thankfully for them, we were able to cover our fees for getting the project off the ground. .This is a expensive endeavor but we all feel its worth the price to help ensure our deer hunting heritage in the state of Arkansas. We know there will be other folks wanting to contribute as we have to help this association and once we are able to go public, there will be different types of memberships for the hunters to pick from and join.
As we all know, hunting season is upon us. We set a target date of Oct to accomplish a big majority of this process. We have accomplished much in four months, but we still have a few things to iron out before going public. The process is not easy, to say the least, it is time consuming, and labor intensive. One big hurdle we face on a day to day basis, is we have sixteen guys spread out across this state, and we are trying our hardest to make this the best and most respectable organizations in the state. . Logistics is one of our biggest hurdles. And if you can imagine putting this together with someone across the state, and we all have family responsibilities that we must meet also. We anticipate the deer season will slow things down, and that is why we wanted to accomplish a majority of the work before Oct. We have the organization in place and a big majority of the structure, we just have to wait for the process to be filed, and then the wait for the state and federal to approve our application which is out of our hands at that point. .Three to six weeks on that process.
With saying that, let me brief you on were we stand so far.
We have opened a Po Box and bank account.
We received the paying charter money.
We have set our regions up, six total.
We have elected six region directors and assistants.
We have wrote our by-laws.
We have wrote our mission statement.
We have elected our officers.
Things we are working on at this time
Getting a logo, and attaining those rights.
Ordering stickers
Website construction.
Different avenues to receive memberships.
Future promoting and membership drives.
Future goals:
Setting up some kind of youth programs.
Educate and promote the public about deer and deerhunting.
Working with any agencies directly involved in the betterment of our herd and sport.
Watchdog for any anti groups in the state of Ark.
Monitor any possible diseases.
Having a annual banquet.
Keeping members informed of any current events dealing with deer and deerhunting.
Be a voice for its membership on deer hunting matters.
I’m sure I am forgetting something, but that is the majority of things we are working on as of right now. Folks I will be honest, this is not a easy process to accomplish with sixteen guys spread out across the state. We have to get our legs under us before we can take off running, and that is a slow process. We will be new, and it will take hard work to build a membership. We hope to spread the word, by personal contact, news media, networking, website, chat boards, and any avenue we can, to get memberships We appreciate your patients on this matter for sure. The charters are just as anxious to get this public as you are to see and hopefully join. As I have stated before, this organization is for you the deer hunter. We welcome all forms of deer hunters, rifle, bow, cross-bow, pistol, shotgun and muzzleloaders. We all have different methods of hunting we prefer, but we all share in the same admiration of the whitetail deer and the continuance of our deer hunting heritage. Thank you for your time and patience, and hopefully you will be proud of your ADHA. Have a good opening weekend!
Thanks Lee Lane
