The Arkansas Deerhunters Association is very close to becoming a reality. The hunters on this state, has suggested forming this group, together many times in the past, but for some reason or another it just never took form. Finally a group of dedicated individuals/deer hunters across the state of Arkansas have put together a organization that hopefully will be able represent the common deer hunter of this state.
I am proud to be a part of the forming of this organization, and want you to know there have been many guys helping in getting this up and running. Its been very difficult but fun, working out the logistics of forming such a broad group of hunters. Many guys have spent countless hours, energy and personal money to getting this association formed.
Back in June, a group of guys, decided it was time to stop talking about forming a group, and actually form a group. And that is where the process began. Since then, we have worked on our mission statement, goals, regions in the state, logo, website, Po Box, bank account and by-laws. Where we stand at this point, is waiting on the meeting with the attorney, and the CPA. Once we have that meeting on Sept 21, we will have them file our paper work, and wait till we can accept membership. We estimate a 3-4 week wait on that process. After that, the organization will be formed, and we will be able to take memberships. This is a very costly and time consuming process, in which we thank you for your patience in getting this formed.

With all the work that has already been done, it will be a fraction, in the work that will need to be done to make this a successful organization. And that is where we need hunters of this state to get involved and to hopefully help the deer and deerhunters of this state. We hope this association offers many things to the common deer hunter of this state, but it will take members to make it successful. Information, Communication and Representation are the three big things we all need in this state on deer hunting matters. We hope to have a annual banquet, fun get togethers, business meetings, fundraisers, youth programs, representation at commission meetings and last but not least, the fellowship that deer hunting brings to all. Hopefully we will be able to accomplish that with the help of you the deer hunter. With this organization hopefully the deer hunters will have a voice in the future.
As this process nears completion time, there will be more information, details and specifics on the organization. Hopefully you can spread the word about it, and when this goes out to the public, hopefully we can generate interest to gain members, and make this the best deer hunting organization which represents all forms of deer hunting in the state. I thank you for your time, and hope you join us in helping the future of our sport and the deer hunting heritage for our youth. Thanks Lee Lane

It's just around the bend...Well put Lee.

We will need all the members we can get and the membership fee will be very small considering how large our voice can be when combined as one.

Very well said Lee, and I want to thank you for all of your hard work and time.

Yes everybody this is a much needed assocaition and Lee did touch on the three most important elements this associtaion will bring between the AGFC and deerhunters for this state. But I would like to add this assocition is NOT a group against AGFC or the commissioners. We will be willing to work with them for the betterment of the deer herd and opportunties for the hunter.
