The Arkansas Deerhunters Association is alive and well, and there is alot of work going on, not all of it is discussed on this board, but we appreciate the use of it.

If you would like to help out in any part of the state please let us know.

Thanks more info. to come.

Well let's see - the bratwursts, corn, and baked beans were all good so I guess the meeting went well. graemlins/thumb.gif Actually we had a good discussion on several items.

Like the guys said we had a very good productive meeting, we are very close to getting our paper work in line. We have a rough draft of by-laws, and have hashed out some finer points on it, I have the Minnisota Deer Hunters Association sending me their by-laws, just to look over and see what things they have. They also are sending us a package of things they do, which can give us some ideas down the road.

I talked with the Chapter Coordinator for a while on the phone, just quizing him on how they do things. He was very helpful, and said we could call for help any time. I gave him this website, so I'm sure he will look at this BB. Their set up basically the same way we will be set up. Except they have paid staff, and a paid lobbiest. They have 20,000 members, and really have a good organization. Its something to shoot for down the road. They got a lot of good programs for the deer hunters in that state. Also they have been formed for 25 years. They have no baiting, no dog running, and their DNR sets the game regulations, along with the state legislation. They have no commission. He said their lobbiest has really help them.

As we progress this thing, we will be keeping all informed. This organization is for the deer hunters of this state. We are all in this together. Help is much appreciated. We have not one organization in this state, that represents the common deer hunter in all forms. Some commissioners even have said there has not been a organized group representing deer hunters. We need this, and the hunters are the ones that are gonna make it happen, and be succesful.

I'm glad to see the interest pick up on this board and see more folks stepping up and wanting to help.

We are all trying to get this thing done so we can start taking memberships. I would love to see this thing grow at a quick pace so we can have a strong voice by the time the agfc has it's meetings next spring.
